In the Loop; Get the Scoop, June 2009

Members will be receiving an invitation to attend an informational meeting where representatives from the various boards (School, Finance, Elders) will be answering questions and updating them on the congregational celebrations, school enrollments, and budget changes.  Several meetings will be held so that all members will be able to find a convenient time to attend.  Call the church office for times and more information (936)295-5298.

Faith Lutheran Women is taking orders to purchase red and/or white carnations either in honor of or in memory of fathers.  These carnations will be displayed in bouquets in the sanctuary on Father's Day, June 21st.  The cost is $2.50 for each carnation ordered.  The names of the honored will be published in the worship folder on that Sunday.

Envelopes for ordering carnations are on the table in the Narthex.  Make checks payable to Faith Lutheran Church.

Congregational President, Congregational Vice President, Congregational Secretary, Congregational Treasurer, Chair of the Board of Christian Education, Chair of the Board of Youth Ministry, Chair of the Board of Social Ministry, Chair of the Board of Faith Lutheran School, Chair of the Board of Stewardship, Chair of the Board of Young Adult Ministry, Congregational Elder (places 6-9), and Congregational Trustee.

We have several names thus far, but we want to make sure you have the opportunity to put foward names (including your own!).  The job descriptions are included in the Constitution and Bylaws of Faith Lutheran Church (pdf link).  The election of officers will take place at the Voters Meeting after Worship on March 22, 2009.

Lilies for Easter 

If you would like to purchase one or more Easter Lilies for use in the Sanctuary on Easter Day, the Board of Public Worship is accepting $10 donations per Easter Lily.  They will be purchasing the lilies during Holy Week.  Please fill out an envelope from the table in the narthex and place it, along with payment in the box.  Checks should be made out to "Faith Lutheran Church".  The deadline for purchase is April 5th.  Any proceeds from this sale will be donated to fund FLY activities.

Pastoral Profile Summary

The Board of Elders completed the pastoral profile summary ( pdf file ) at their February meeting.  This document was generated from the two congregational surveys.  The Board of Elders thanks the congregation for their participation in the call process.  Your input has been very informative and motivational.

December 14th, 2008 - deadline for Church Ministry Survey

The church ministry survey was placed in members' boxes.  If you have misplaced yours, you may download the survey here (pdf).  Complete it and place it in the basket in the narthex before December 14th. (UPDATE 12/21/08 survey closed.)

The Alter Guild is taking orders for poinsettias for you to purchase for $6 each.  If you would like to purchase one or more poinsettias for use in the sanctuary for Christmas Eve please fill out an envelope on the table in the narthex and place it along with payment in the box.   Checks should be made to Faith Lutheran Church.

September 15, 2008 - FLS Closure for Hurricane Ike Recovery

FLS is closed Monday 9/15/08. Continue to tune into KSAM 101.7 for up-to-the-minute information on closures for the rest of the week.

A hard copy of the survey is being delivered to each member's box.  Members may complete the survey online or may complete it by hand and return it to the church office.
Either way, EACH member of Faith Lutheran Church is asked to complete the Pastoral Profile Survey.
The Call Committee of Faith Lutheran Church and the Texas District, LCMS will use the results to identify an appropriate list of candidates.
The survey window is scheduled to close September 15, 2008.

The Faith Lutheran Church Board of Elders - Jimmy Meekins, Ron Goerdel, Doug Dretke, Richard Henriksen, Don Kraemer (Congregational President), Dick Hansen, Bud Byrne, Ray Teske, Dickie Pustejovsky, Darren Williams (not-pictured), Larry Cobb (not-pictured)  - developed a pastoral profile survey and a congregational health survey so that the members of Faith Lutheran Church may share their vision for the future.
